I am looking forward to having our team in Ottawa again and having a class group owning the team . Ottawa is a hot bed for amateur football which will help boost attendance . Ticket prices are very reasonable which will also be a great value of sports entertainment . Football will also boost economy in our city which we all know helps business and also brings tax dollars . Let's be grateful to the business group that have decided to bring our team back !
There are many functions business people are asked to attend and how do they choose which one to attend ? If you are anything like myself you could be out every day in a function and justify it is good business development . Well , all of them are not equal or worthwhile to go to . I have become more selective over the years to choose which " dog and pony " show I chose to go . I got tired of being out all to often and being bored to death . I now chose which function I go to by having a criteria . Saying no to functions has become easier , maybe it is due to attending functions which were similar to going to a dentist for a root canal. Focusing on objective for going , choosing when to arrive and when to exit is crucial .
We humans were not created to be alone . Relationships came in many forms and they change over time . Some relationships are meant to last while others were not . Personal relationships are important but I find sometimes they are hard to maintain . We are all busy and decisions as to where we devote our time dictate which relationships last . I believe for any relationship to work there has to be a give and take . I decided to end a friendship and reason was because it was going as long as I was able to accommodate my friends schedule . Business relationships can start as that and evolve into a personal relationship . Respect or lack of respect in my view is a basis if a relationship should continue . Strong relationships make life enjoyable !
I meet people who say to me " I would make a great person because I can talk to anyone " . Yes they may be able to do that but there is much more to being a sales professional . I believe for a person to be a success in sales they need to want to win . They also need to be able to establish solid relationships . Unfortunately , not many sales people have a business plan for themselves . Resilience is very important trait to thrive in a sales environment . Finding good young sales people is not a easy task as there are things they need to learn and sometimes they are not patient to work at it . As a professional advisor I get asked to wear many hats : psychologist , marriage councilor , spiritual councilor , coach , lawyer , accountant , connector , financial advisor , deal maker and this is only a few of my roles . I think being a PROFESSIONAL sales person is a noble calling as it touches many people and gives value to all you serve !
Have you ever read a book that was written to teach you about balance in life and a picture of a pie chart with perfect divisions to show a balanced life . I use to try real hard to get that perfect balance and realized I could never achieve it as always there were one or two areas dominating my life . I enjoy going away and just having time to think and look at my life . I also find that being grateful is a good thing and looking at life with optimism helps a great deal . Life continues to be as they say work in progress and a adventure . There is no magic formula and you need to make your own . Enjoy life in the here and now !
How many of us go for our regular physical check up with our doctor ? How many of us review our : wills ? Shareholder agreements ? Corporate structure ? Investments ? Critical Illness insurance ? Disability insurance ? Life insurance ? People get busy living their life that they forget to review their life insurance contracts because it is quite frankly boring for them as well as they do not want to think about potential catastrophes ! Does your advisor contact you at least on a annual basis to offer a audit ? If not why not ?
How many of you have read or taken time to understand your life insurance coverage ? Assuming you have not , why not ? I know , boring work and contracts are written for lawyers . Many professional advisors in the insurance industry can guide you through the decision making process and explain what you are covered for . Problem is finding that advisor who is more then a sales person simply flogging the product . Bad advice is expensive and could be fatal to your financial health . Ask for references and your friends may be able to introduce you to proven professionals .
The other day CBC had aired a program about a young lady who was denied by her group insurer under the Long Term due to non disclosure . The relevant statements were that her doctor " did not think " lumps on the breasts were cancerous . Firs and foremost personal disability , group insurance disability and disability coverage offered under a association plan all are very different . If you are not sure what your coverage is call us for a insurance audit and do not leave things to chance .
